In an interview with MMA OddsBreaker’s James Lynch, UFC welterweight Bojan Velickovic revealed that his coaching partner, former RFA welterweight champion Brandon”Ruckus” Thatch has been booked to take on Brazil’s Erick Silva. There’s no official date and location for its fight booking, along with the bout hasn’t been officially declared, but Velickovic did say that it is in September, so one might suppose that could be September 24th’s UFC Fight Night 95 in Silva’s garden of Brasilia, Brazil. The two 170-pounders have their backs against the wall going into this contest, as Thatch is coming off three straight losses, being finished by rear naked choke submission in all three of themand Silva is coming off a pair of defeats himself, most recently a barbarous knockout in the hands of Nordine Taleb. This is a small surprise match-up, as most guessed there was a good possibility both welterweights would be getting their walking papers from the advertising following their latest excursions inside the Octagon. The UFC has yet decided that one of these must stick around, and in a promotion where some fighters get cut after only 1 loss, these welterweights are fortunate. The two Thatch and Silva have seemed to be on a decrease in recent bouts, so it’s going to be interesting to see how they will look against each other when they square off this September. 1 fighter’s UFC story will last, while the one who tastes defeat will likely be inching closer to a Bellator contract, as it would probably serve him better to just hang up the gloves for good. Silva stands from Kings MMA CA under the tutelage of Master Rafael Cordeiro, at Huntington Beach. Thatch and Velickovic fight out of Evolution Fight Team at Denver, CO.. Velickovic confronted former American Top Team training partner Michael Graves at the featured bout for the UFC Fight Pass prelims for UFC 201 final evening with his bout causing a majority draw.
